Group Therapy

We offer group therapy based upon the core concepts of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical  Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Gestalt Therapy.

Group Structure

Each group builds upon the preexisting week’s lesson. Weekly topics include basic facts about traumatic response, relaxation, effects of trauma on the brain and relationships, feeling expression, cognitive coping, artistic expression, creating a narrative, and enhancing safety.

Group Format

All groups run for an hour and a half. Groups begin with brief check-ins by group members and a brief relaxation exercise to reinforce skills learned the week prior. Psychoeducation topics typically are discussed in the first half of each group. Process is woven into every component of group therapy with great emphasis placed upon reflection the last half of group therapy.
